Jim and his family have been Volvo owners for over 20 years and he has owned many different Volvo models from a 1968 Amazon, which he has completely restored and uprated, to his current Volvo a 2003 S60T5.
The first family Volvo, a 1982 model 244GLT, was primarily bought for safe transport of the family but a second 244GLE arived soon after that. After restoring two MGB GTs he finally managed to purchase a sound 2 door Amazon which he completely stripped and rebuilt, upgraded the engine from a B18 to a special B20. Many special parts for this project were purchased in Netherlands, UK and USA via the Internet.
He has been an active committee member of the Volvo Enthusiasts Club NZ for many years as magazine editor and webmaster and has taken his restored Amazon for many trips around New Zealand.
Although it is not so easy to work on the modern Volvos as it was on the Amazon, he still cannot resist to do some basic work on his latest S60T5, just recently he replaced the rear shocks and changed oil/filter and air filter. All parts were purchased overseas.
