My
car is a Volvo P210 1968, also called Duett. It is a very
original van model, except the engine, the B18 has been replaced
by a standard B20.
Around 60,000 P210s were manufactured from 1960 to 1969. The car
is based on a model PV544. The similar car based on model PV444
was called Volvo 445.
I have owned my Duett just for over a year. It is in use in
summer only, because of Finnish cold winters with lot of snow
and ice. They use quite a lot of salt to keep roads and streets
out of ice. So many old Finnish cars are damaged by corrosion
quite badly.
I usually use my car on sunny mornings to drive five kilometers
to my job. In summer my wife and I are going make a couple of
longer trips. We are going to drive to Sweden, to the home land
of Volvos. My Duett was made in the city of Göteborg.
My Duett still has original drum brakes in both front and rear
axles. I'm going to install Volvo 121s disk brakes at the front.
It will be almost a bolt-on operation, and original drum brakes
can easily be refitted.
In year 1984 there were 377 registered Duetts in Finland. 22 of
them were 1968 models. Today there are less than one hundred
Duetts left in Finland.
