In
1963 the well reputated Brussels coachbuilder "Jacques
Coune" wanted to start the production of a Volvo
convertible, based on the 122S 2-door sedan. In fact only 4 cars
got ever produced, due to the production cost who turned out to
be much more than originally calculated. This car isn't a real
conversion, but a replica. Although it's a replica this car is
almost an exact copy of what Coune did in the 60's. The main
difference is that the conversion quality of this car is much
higher than what Coune did in the
60's, but it never changed the fact that historically seen it's
not an
original one, but it always will be a unique Volvo too!
The base for the conversion was a normal 2 door 1970 121 with
B20A engine, imported from Switzerland. It was a coachbuilder
from Berlin, who did the whole project in the 80's, based on the
original Coune plans for a German lawyer. It also received an
unique full Connolly leather interior, and luxury carpeting. I
bought this car in 1998 when the owner moved abroad, and
couldn't take the car. After several thousands of enjoyable
kilometres I can only say that it's the best classic car I ever
had! But finding an original one would make me even more
happy...
